Absolute results remain low overall and Navoi MMC’s results are largely dependent on its commitments, including to ensure safe and healthy working conditions, as well as its disclosures, such as data on accidents, serious injuries, and fatalities among its workforce. However, there is no evidence that the company collaborates with workers to identify and mitigate health and safety risks in the workplace.

Navoi MMC’s results in the company-wide assessment are below average in all thematic areas and the company’s overall results are limited by a lack of evidence of commitments and action on many key issues. For example, Navoi MMC only makes limited mention of respecting human rights and shows no evidence of conducting human rights due diligence. Likewise, there is no evidence of Navoi MMC developing procurement opportunities at the local or national level, planning for the management of post-closure transition for workers and affected communities, or disclosing information on how climate change can exacerbate the impacts of its operations.

Navoi MMC shows evidence of improvement since the RMI Report 2020, including on its support for technical and management skills development for its local workforce, improved reporting on accidents, serious injuries and fatalities among its workforce, and the disclosure of the number of tailings storage facilities.

Navoi MMC ranks 37th among the 40 companies on its mine-site-level results, with an average score of only 1% in the mine-site assessment. The results of the seven Navoi MMC mine sites in the assessment are strikingly weak. With the exception of limited evidence on worker grievances, none of the seven mine sites show any relevant evidence on any of the fifteen issues covered in the mine-site assessment.
